Andris Taurins was born in Jaunpiebalga, Vidzeme, Latvia in 1941. He was educated in Northumberland and went on to read Civil Engineering at Imperial, London. He was appointed Latvian Honorary Consul to Wales in March 2002. He is involved in a number of businesses which he runs from his HQ in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.
